ACA Swiss Town Halls - November 12th & 13th
On November 12th and 13th, Jonathan hosted two American Citizens Abroad (ACA) Town Halls – one in Zurich, the other in Lausanne – designed to update Americans living in Switzerland on ACA’s advocacy efforts in Washington DC, and (under the White Lighthouse umbrella) to address key issues in cross-border financial planning.
Both events featured expert presentations from Kristin Howze of KLR, Matthew Berlin of Rubin and Rudman, and Joshua Barrett and Rachel Rust of the State Department Federal Credit Union (SDFCU).
- Kristin Howze’s presentation, “Tax Traps for the Unwary: A Practical Guide for US Expats in Switzerland” covered Pillars I & II, home ownership considerations, cross-border business complexities, PFICs, and other common pitfalls.
- Matthew Berlin presented “Estate Planning for US Citizens in Switzerland”, addressing wills, revocable living trusts, property rights, key differences between the Swiss and US systems, and more.
- Joshua Barrett and Rachel Rust highlighted how the SDFCU supports Americans residing abroad.
Both Town Halls were a success and well-attended. Presentation materials will be available to ACA Members through the ACA website. We encourage you to consider joining ACA and becoming a member today!
